Kingwood's Nathaniel Center

Arts and Culture category interest

Were you aware that Kingwood has a performing arts center only one block off North Park Drive? No, not the performing arts center at Lone Star college or the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center in Humble, but kingwood's own Nathaniel Center. Home to a number of performance groups composed of artists based in the Kingwood and Northeast Houston area, The Nathaniel Center is a hidden gem in real need of greater exposure. In the words of Allen Ginsberg, “Whoever controls the media – the images – controls the culture.

Our popular media has been overrun with violence, and chaos. In the face of that overwhelming tide, the mission of the Nathaniel Center and the focus of the Performing Arts program is to support true excellence in the art, to foster appreciation, and to provide family friendly entertainment for the Kingwood and North Houston community.

Hosting theatre, dance and musical performances throughout the year, The Nathaniel Center has the feel of the old with its beautiful architecture yet offers the latest in state of the art sound, acoustics, professional stage lighting, and effects.

A full size stage with 27 riggings and battings includes a muslin drop syc, and video screen.  The facility also offers a platform that lowers to make an orchestra pit or raises to stage level meeting the diverse needs of music, theatre, and dance groups.

A few of the performing arts groups that appear and present regularly at the Nathaniel Center are Kingwood's Opera Leggera, Curtain Call Cafe, Kingwood Dance Theatre, Centre Stage and Kingwood Pops Orchestra

The Nathaniel Center is owned by The Nathaniel Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting many U.S. Charities as well as the Performing Arts. The Nathaniel Foundation underwrites events for the community many times throughout the year in the area of classical music concerts by various concert artists and theatre groups at the Nathaniel Center in Kingwood Texas.

More than a building, The Nathaniel Center is a gift and a blessing back to the Kingwood community from Paul and Dr. Victoria Sarvadi. Paul Sarvadi is one of the founders of Insperity.  Born of an idea sketched on a napkin in a Kingwood coffee shop, the company, Insperity, grew to be one of the top professional employer organizations  in the nation today.

With the fruits of that success, the Sarvadi’s formed The Nathaniel Foundation with the mission of building a better community by promoting the arts, education, business, and family.

The Nathaniel Center is one of the many projects that The Nathaniel Foundation has created. It can be found at 804 Russell Palmer Rd Kingwood, Texas 77339 and online here.
