If you live in Texas, chances are, you love crawfish. Sure, some Texans are a bit more into those squirmy little mudbugs than others but most won't deny that once you get past that crunchy outer shell, they are absolutely delicious, especially when combined with an ice cold beverage.

Here in Kingwood, we've got this place that you may or may not know of, depending upon your level of interest in all things spicy and southern. The place has a unique, but memorable name, Swamp Donkeys Crawfish and Seafood. The outdoor location, at 1965 Northpark Drive, is one of two, with the other being at the Track Shack in Spring at 25811 Hardy Rd. If you live in Kingwood and you know where the fireworks building is on Northpark, Swamp Donkeys is just adjacent to it.

As most everyone knows, Crawfish is seasonal. The typical crawfish season runs from February to late May, and this year marks Swamp Donkeys Crawfish and Seafood's second season in the Kingwood area, though plans are underway to stay open year round with a seafood oriented menu. Swamp Donkeys is an open air concept with a 40'x 40' Palapa to keep you out of the sun and as the temperatures rise, they have plans to provide fans and misters to help their customers stay cool in this Texas heat. Speaking of Texas heat and the need to stay cool and hydrated, Swamp Donkeys in Kingwood is currently BYOB, while their Spring location has beer for sale, courtesy of the Track Shack and customers are welcome to bring their own mixers.

In addition to delicious underwater burrowers and other delicacies from the sea, Swamp Donkeys Crawfish and Seafood in Kingwood keeps their customers entertained by regularly featuring live music by local and regional acoustic country artists. You can find out who is playing by following the regular weekly updates on their facebook page.

When asked what they would like the Kingwood community to know about Swamp Donkeys, a representative says, "Swamp Donkeys is willing to put in the work to keep a smile on our customers’ faces. We are a family friendly place that treats you like family. Our staff is full of familiar faces as we do work to employ locals. Similarly, we try to enhance the community by supporting other locally owned businesses, putting on networking events, and hosting fundraisers."

The Kingwood community has a long history as home to some really interesting and community oriented businesses and Swamp Donkeys Crawfish and Seafood is no exception. If you live or work in the Kingwood area, we suggest you check them out as soon as possible. Swamp Donkeys is open Tuesday- Thursday 12:00 - 8:00pm, Friday-Saturday 12:00 - 9:00pm, and Sunday 12:00 - 8:00pm.
