Following a year of devastating loss, slowdowns, a crushing economic situation caused by the Covid-19 shutdowns, business is finally starting to look up again with several new businesses having just opened in the Kingwood Area and more announcing opening dates in the very near future. We would like to take this as a sign that 2021 might provide a light at the end of this long and tiresome tunnel that Kingwood has been travelling for the past several months. Even though the closings werenand#39;t Covid related, Kingwood has lost a lot of its strip-center anchor businesses over the past 24 months including Randalls, Stein Mart, Palais Royal, CiCis Pizza in the front of Kingwood and more, and those closings caused the adjacent businesses to suffer from a lack of drive-by impulse shopping traffic. While plans have been announced for a few of the local anchor tenant properties to be filled in the coming months, as well as the new development planned for the original H.E.B. location at Kingwood Drive and W. Lake Houston Parkway, those adjacent businesses continue to struggle and need your business now more than ever. We here at Kingwood Caller strongly support local businesses, small businesses and independently owned businesses and hope you will too. Below are a few of the recent openings and announcements.
1. A new nail salon has opened in the Atascocita at 18455 W. Lake Houston Parkway, in the same center that hosts El Jimador Mexican Restaurant and J. Thompson Salons. The salon is called Taco Nail and is the sister salon to the Taco Nail here in Kingwood next to Chelsea Deli. The salon is locally owned by Annie Griffin and offers classic manicure and pedicure services, with a specialty in shellac and dip powder manicures which are more durable than traditional acrylics and can easily last up to one month with proper home care. Taco Nail focuses on providing their services by appointment only and have very limited availability for walk-ins. This ensures that they have ample time to focus on you and your service without having to rush to get to the next waiting client. Dedicating a time slot just for you, allows you to better plan your day by knowing when you will be finished with your appointment. No more waiting hours to get your nails done!. Taco Nail can be reached at 281-358-6001 or by appointment via their website for both the Kingwood and Atascocita area locations.
2. Wells Fargo Bank has opened a new location in the former Stein Mart and Palais Royal shopping center at the front of Kingwood to better serve the customers who frequented the location that was in the now-closed Randalls shopping center two blocks over. The bank is located right next to Tiger Rock Tai Kwon Do and is a full service location. It can be reached by phone at 281-706-8350 or by simply stopping by.
