Following a year of devastating loss, slowdowns, a crushing economic situation caused by the Covid-19 shutdowns, business is finally starting to look up again with several new businesses having just opened in the Kingwood Area and more announcing opening dates in the very near future. We would like to take this as a sign that 2021 might provide a light at the end of this long and tiresome tunnel that Kingwood has been travelling for the past several months. Even though the closings werenand#39;t Covid related, Kingwood has lost a lot of its strip-center anchor businesses over the past 24 months including Randalls, Stein Mart, Palais Royal, CiCis Pizza in the front of Kingwood and more, and those closings caused the adjacent businesses to suffer from a lack of drive-by impulse shopping traffic. While plans have been announced for a few of the local anchor tenant properties to be filled in the coming months, as well as the new development planned for the original H.E.B. location at Kingwood Drive and W. Lake Houston Parkway, those adjacent businesses continue to struggle and need your business now more than ever. We here at Kingwood Caller strongly support local businesses, small businesses and independently owned businesses and hope you will too. Below are a few of the recent openings and announcements.

1. A new nail salon has opened in the Atascocita at 18455 W. Lake Houston Parkway, in the same center that hosts El Jimador Mexican Restaurant and J. Thompson Salons. The salon is called Taco Nail and is the sister salon to the Taco Nail here in Kingwood next to Chelsea Deli. The salon is locally owned by Annie Griffin and offers classic manicure and pedicure services, with a specialty in shellac and dip powder manicures which are more durable than traditional acrylics and can easily last up to one month with proper home care. Taco Nail focuses on providing their services by appointment only and have very limited availability for walk-ins. This ensures that they have ample time to focus on you and your service without having to rush to get to the next waiting client. Dedicating a time slot just for you, allows you to better plan your day by knowing when you will be finished with your appointment. No more waiting hours to get your nails done!. Taco Nail can be reached at 281-358-6001 or by appointment via their website for both the Kingwood and Atascocita area locations.

2. Wells Fargo Bank has opened a new location in the former Stein Mart and Palais Royal shopping center at the front of Kingwood to better serve the customers who frequented the location that was in the now-closed Randalls shopping center two blocks over. The bank is located right next to Tiger Rock Tai Kwon Do and is a full service location. It can be reached by phone at 281-706-8350 or by simply stopping by.

3. Speaking of the former Stein Mart and Palais Royal shopping center, it has been recently announced that the former Ciciand#39;s Pizza location will be filled with a brand new Gattiand#39;s Pizza and you can color us tickled pink! Stay tuned here for more announcements in the coming weeks as to approximate opening dates.

4. You may have noticed that construction was finally finished on the brand new IHOP located at 23746 Hwy 59 North, next to Texas Roadhouse. No more waiting in long lines at the IHOP in Humble for delicious pancakes, french toast, omelettes and more. That new IHOP can be reached at 713-568-6261

5. The folks at DECA Beer Co. Brewery will be opening an all new taproom on February 12th featuring food trucks as often as possible, patio dining/drinking, wines and more. They will be opening Fridays and Saturdays at first, but will be adding days and times as demand grows. They will offer draft beer for in-house and in-beer garden consumption and growlers will be available for purchase of to-go beer. For the time being and due to the recent viral scare, we will not fill growlers or other outside containers. Glassware, T-Shirts and other swag will be available for purchase. In addition to the food trucks they plan to have as often as possible, they will also offer various snacks for purchase, and occasionally food and snacks for no charge. The new DECA Beer Co. Taproom is located at 25428 Loop 494, Unit 6 in Porter.

6. Fidelity National Title (Lake Houston) is opening a new office at 1849 Kingwood Drive near the fire station. In a statement on social media, they said "After scouring the Lake Houston Area for new office space, we are excited to have signed a lease in this building towards the front of Kingwood! We hope to see everyone at our Open House once we get moved in."

7. Staceys Dance Studio in Kingwood has opened a brand new 20,000 square foot location at 2755 West Lake Houston Parkway. The extremely popular local dance studio has long been deeply ingrained into the Kingwood community and itand#39;s owner Stacey Wilms an active participant in local causes. 2021 marks their 30th year in business and in Staceyand#39;s own words, “God continues to bless me with amazing children and families.  Each day, I hand over the studio and the business to the Lord of the Universe.
